Micheal McCambridge – McCambridge Bread

Micheal McCambridge – McCambridge Bread

McCambridge Bread became a member of Love Irish Food in 2015. “Our membership of Love Irish Food has had an extremely positive impact on our business,” says Michael McCambridge. “Being a member of the organisation further endorses our position with Irish consumers as an Irish family food manufacturer. It has also aligned us with other members of Love Irish Food, such as Ballymaloe, whose products are renowned for being part of a quality and healthy Irish breakfast offer. There has been a meeting of minds between McCambridge and Love Irish Food because their ethos reflects our philosophy as a company. Like Love Irish Food and the other LIF members, we are all about sourcing products in Ireland and sourcing products whose raw materials, where possible, are sourced in Ireland.

“We are also strong on contributing to the communities that we work in by providing local employment. About 85% of our 50 employees are from Rathcoole or its environs. When it comes to our suppliers, we buy our flour from Odlums and our grain-based ingredients are from Shackleton’s in Ashbourne and Kell’s in Bennetsbridge in Kilkenny and we source our packaging from a range of local Irish companies. It is important to support Irish companies at every stage in the supply chain in order to enhance the sustainability of the supply chain and to give the national economy a much-needed boost.”

“We were happy to join Love Irish Food because of what they stand for – they showcase and promote products manufactured in Ireland to the Irish consumer. Being a member of Love Irish Food has been very helpful to the business.

We exhibited at Bloom for several years and it proved to be an excellent showcase for our products. It was also an opportunity to meet some of the major supermarket buyers, which was great exposure for Spice O’Life and laid the foundations for new business for the company. Also, having the Love Irish Food logo on our products communicates a very clear message of high quality to the consumer and emphasises the fact that all of our products are Irish-made.”

“Keelings joined Love Irish Food in 2010, when they launched the Keelings brand. “We have really enjoyed our association with Love Irish Food and we use the Love Irish Food logo in all of our packaging on Irish grown seasonal produce,” says David. “I love the concept of Love Irish Food. We are an island nation and we are proud of the standard of quality fresh food that we produce. As suppliers and retailers, we are also lucky that consumers are proud to buy Irish because that boosts the overall economy. We are big supporters of telling the story, not just of our own brand, but of all Irish food brands because, collectively, we are much stronger. I think local brands, a sense of community, and supporting each other, takes on a greater significance during challenging times, and that is why Love Irish Food will continue to play such a vital role for Irish businesses as we navigate through the current pandemic”
