Flahavan’s has been milling oats at the family mill in Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford for over 200 years. The first family connection to the Flahavan’s name can be traced back to about 1785 when Thomas Dunn took over the mill. Dunn was the great-great-great-grandfather of John Flahavan who is the Managing Director of the company today. We met up with John Flahavan to ask about his favourite things in life…….
I love the yoghurt and oatmeal bread, made by my wife Mary. I enjoy it everyday!
The sea and Comeragh Mountain are very close to us at Kilmacthomas in Co. Waterford. I am lucky to be able to avail of both. I enjoy walking most weekends along the coast or in the mountains.
Love Irish Food product…
Keelings fruit is a product I admire and eat often with my porridge in the morning. The brand has grown strongly over the past few year and the product is great!
I can’t pick one! But there are some great restaurants in Dungarvan. The standard is very high and local produce is great.
Place in Ireland
Kerry is wonderful part of the world. There is some spectacular scenery, mountains and sea.
The chef I most admire is Neven Maguire, from a small guest house in a border town to being such an iconic restaurant. Blacklion is a centre of excellence for cookery.
I love the taste of fresh fish – it has become so much easier to find good fish throughout Ireland in recent years. It’s much easier to find on menus throughout Ireland. Transport has improved dramatically, and now we can all enjoy fresh fish.
My late mother used make a lovely lemon souffle…I can still taste it now.
