Love Irish Food announces launch of 2018 Brand Development Awards marking €1million investment to date
August 2018: Love Irish Food, in partnership with Exterion Media are delighted to announce the launch of the 2018 Brand Development Award. To date, and including this years’ award investment, Love Irish Food will have invested a total of €1million in media and creative content to support Irish food brands – making it the biggest national food award in the Irish food industry.
The 2018 Brand Development Award, provides brands that carry the Love Irish Food logo with the opportunity to win €75,000 in advertising space, scheduled across Exterion Media’s retail portfolio and Retail digital network. The extensive out-of-home campaign will appear nationally for two weeks and includes print production and digital animation. Additionally, Owens DDB Advertising Agency will provide the winner with up to a €10,000 creative bursary to create and develop the Outdoor advertising campaign.
The award provides Love Irish Food member brands, who support over 15,000 jobs in the Irish food industry, with the chance to win a fully funded national advertising campaign from Exterion Media and with a runner up receiving a business to business featured profile in Checkout magazine. From artisan producers to global food players, Love Irish Food members play a vital role in helping Ireland’s food industry as it faces enormous economic challenges, in this Brexit period.
Exterion Media is a market leading company in Outdoor advertising in Ireland. The company has pioneered the development of digital Out-of-Home in Ireland and delivers traditional and digital formats in the Retail environment.
As part of the ongoing effort to get its brand message across to consumers, Love Irish Food, Exterion Media, Checkout Publications and Owens DDB Advertising have teamed up to offer Irish food and drink producer a big helping hand in promoting their brands to the Irish consumer. We are offering one Irish company a Brand Award of €70,000 in advertising space. This will be scheduled across Exterion Media’s Retail portfolio which includes traditional 6 sheets and digital screens. The Campaign will appear for a two week cycle (14 days) and includes print production and digital animation. In addition Owens DDB will provide a defined amount of strategic and creative content. The runner up in the competition will have their brand featured as part of a double page spread in Checkout magazine one of the most read publications by retail trade buyers.
Love Irish Food & Exterion Media will work with you to plan the optimum campaign for your brand given your business objectives. You will also be provided with up to €10,000 worth of creative development for the campaign, from Owens DDB Advertising.
We are looking for the brand manager for whom the prize will deliver the greatest return. The ideal winner will be just at that point where they know they have a winning proposition and have a strong national sales distribution. Your brand may not have the advertising budget to get your brand message to your target audience just yet. This award will help take your brand to the next stage in brand development and this is where we can help.
In 1,500 words or less tell us why this campaign should go to your brand. Entrants need to present a sound business and marketing case. As the success of most brands is dependent on passion, we would like you to demonstrate your drive and passion for your brand.
There are two stages involved in the online entry process:

A shortlist of competitors will be brought forward to be interviewed by the judging panel. The number of these companies is at the discretion of the judging panel. The judging panel comprises Kieran Rumley Executive Director, Love Irish Food; Antoinette O’Callaghan, Marketing Manager, Exterion Media and Barry Dooley CEO Advertising Association of Ireland.
Terms and Conditions
The prize is as stated and no cash will be given in lieu.
The prize must be drawn down during Cycles 1-5 2019: 31st December 2018 – 10th March, 2019. Failure to do this will mean the prize is forfeited.
The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Entries must be made online on our website – www.loveirishfood.ie – using the online entry form site and must comply with the entry format.
There is no cost to enter.
Registration for entry must be made before 5-30pm on registration closing date Friday 28th September, 2018.
Submission of entry must be made before 5.30pm on submission closing date Friday 2nd November, 2018.
During the term which the campaign is posted on site with Exterion Media there must be no other above-the-line advertising activity engaged in by the winner. This will allow us to measure the effectiveness of the Campaign. Public relations activities and promotional activities are permitted during this period.
Entry is only open to Love Irish Food members.
The company must employ less than 70 people and have a brand annual turnover in the Republic of Ireland of less than €10 million.
Entrants agree that in entering the Competition that they freely consent to the Organisers use of their entry submission, without restriction.
Entrants confirm that they will make their pre-prize business metrics available – e.g. sales, employees, distribution, and also share post campaign metrics with Love Irish Food. The purpose of the metrics is to allow Love Irish Food and Exterion Media build case studies. No business sensitive information will be used or released.
Entrants will present their performance measurement metric for pre and post campaign purpose.
Entrants should also highlight the complimentary activity to be undertaken to maximise sales impact of the advertising campaign eg promotional activity etc
Entrants confirm that they will make themselves available for interview should they be selected for the shortlist. Any expense incurred will be the responsibility of the entrant and no cost will be liable to Love Irish Food or Exterion Media.
Entrants must have strong national distributon with good access to market.
Entrants must not have previously engaged in advertising expenditure for the submitted brand with a net spend exceeding €60,000 in any one year during the previous 5 years. Note: Promotions & PR activity are not treated as Advertising activity.
In the event of winning, entrants will make themselves available for publicity purpose.
The competition is closed to employees of Love Irish Food or Exterion Media and their families.

Exterion Media will have final the decision over the placement of any advertisement in relation to placement and availability.

The advertising space may only be used to promote the brand, products or company submitted in the entry form and judged in the competition.
The prize is non-transferable to any other company, brand or organization.
By entering this competition, entrants agree to be bound by the rules and to be bound by the decisions of the judging panel.
The value of the media space will be the rate card cost in the Exterion Media published rate card.
Winners must be willing to participate in all media publicity within reason, promoting the award of the prize
