Founded in 1954 by Mr. Joe Murphy, Tayto is a truly well
established and renowned brand in Ireland and amongst the people of
Ireland. Around that time most crisps were being imported and were
mainly unflavoured. Joe saw a niche in the Irish market and set up
his own crisp factory leading to the development of the first ever
cheese & onion flavoured crisp!
Based in Ashbourne in Co. Meath, Tayto employs over 500 people,
making it the largest snack food manufacturer in Ireland and one of
the biggest employers in the region.
In order to sustain our Irishness, Tayto only sources the finest
of Irish raw materials and flavourings to ensure that the customer
gets the highest quality and great tasting product that they
expect. All the potatoes used in the manufacturing of our crisps
are sourced from local Irish farmers meaning that 10% of the total
potato crop in Ireland ends up in your favourite bag of Tayto
crisps!
At Tayto, we continuously strive to stay ahead of the competition
due to the fact that we use of only the finest potatoes and high
quality ingredients including 100% sunflower oil.
New products such as Tayto Velvet Crunch and Tayto Bistro have
been developed from consumer insights. Snackfood consumers are
looking for healthier, great tasting products that they can eat on
the go and share with friends and family.
