Love Irish Food WANTS TO BRING BACK €300M TO THE IRISH ECONOMY
Love Irish Food introduces its own branded shopping bag to remind shoppers to buy Irish this Christmas
11th December 2011 – Love Irish Food is once again encouraging shoppers to buy Irish this Christmas to help to safeguard the future of the 230,000 people employed directly and indirectly in the agri-food industry. Love Irish Food estimates that by switching from just two imported food & drink products a week to two Irish manufactured brands, Irish households could generate over €300m per year for the economy. As part of this campaign Love Irish Food is introducing its own branded shopping bag which will be distributed free of charge next week to remind people to buy more Irish manufactured food or drink brands this Christmas.
Jim Power, Chairman of Love Irish Food, commented: “It is vital that Irish people support local and national indigenous brands this Christmas. The benefit of doing so is very significant, for the economy and socially, within communities all over Ireland. Buying Irish-made food and drink brands is something positive that every person can do this Christmas, and it works for all of us”
Established in 2009 Love Irish Food now boasts over 80 member brands employing thousands of people in communities all across Ireland. From artisan producers to global food players Love Irish Food members play a vital role in helping Ireland’s economic recovery.
