Flahavan’s voted Ireland’s favourite food brand
Among the most loved Irish foods were Flahavan’s, Ballymaloe Foods, butter and Cadbury’s Dairymilk chocolate.
Flahavan’s has been voted Ireland’s favourite food brand. The Waterford oat millers beat off stiff competition from Cadbury’s Dairymilk chocolate and Tayto, which came in second and third place respectively.
Irish bread makers McCambridge took the fourth spot, with Ballymaloe Foods completing the top five.
A total of 2,150 people took part in the Love Irish Food favourites survey, which asked people their opinions on all things Irish food.
For the Irish abroad, butter, bread and tea are the most missed foods, while apple tart topped the indulgent treats category.
Top food county
Bord Bia’s Bloom topped the vote for Ireland’s favourite food festival, with Marlay Park the nation’s number one farmers’ market.
Elswhere, Cork won the favourite food county, followed by Dublin and Tesco took the top spot for favourite food shop.
According to the survey, Irish people prefer dinner above all other meals. Dublin’s Michelin Star restaurant Chapter One was voted by respondents as their favourite, followed by Rustic Stone in second and The Mustard Seed at Echo Lodge in Adare, Co Limerick, in third.
Love Irish Food was established in 2009 to promote Irish-manufactured food and drink brands to consumers and to safeguard the future of Ireland’s largest indigenous industry, which employs over 15,000 people directly and indirectly.
