Lily O’Brien’s started life in 1992 as the brainchild of Mary Ann O’Brien. With little more than a wooden spoon, two saucepans and a genuine passion for chocolate, Mary Ann founded the company in her Kildare kitchen and named it after her eldest daughter, Lily. Over the past two decades Lily O’Brien’s has grown into a global brand with an international reputation for excellence. Mary Ann O’Brien remains at its helm and the family values the company was founded upon remain at the heart of its operations to this day.
Based in the heart of Co. Kildare, Lily O’Brien’s employs more than 100 employees and exports to many markets across the globe including the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai. The company expanded into desserts production for the foodservice sector in 2011.

Lily O’Brien’s chocolates and desserts have been recognized for their exceptional taste and quality by the Guild of Fine Food Retailers on many occasions over the past decade, winning a Gold Great Taste Award most recently in 2011 for its Passionfruit Posset dessert recipe. The company has also been recognized on many occasions by its industry peers for its commitment to innovation and exports, most recently having been named Irish Enterprise of the Year by Business and Finance in 2009.
